Our client is a newly launched human data business built to bridge this gap for frontier AI researchers. Backed by one of the world’s largest expert networks, it has immediate access to millions of vetted experts across highly specialized domains, supported by established governance, compliance, and confidentiality infrastructure.

The business combines startup speed with enterprise-scale expertise and trust, creating high-impact opportunities for senior operators.

About the role

You will build the software the delivery business runs on the workflows experts work in the review and quality layers around them, and the pipelines that get output to clients.

The work sits close to operations. You will watch how programs run and build against what you see. Scope will be broader than the title, including pulling data for a client conversation, automating manual steps, and helping interview future engineers.

What You'll Own

The internal platform

Task routing, expert and contributor workflows, review queues, quality dashboards, and export pipelines. Manual coordination is the practical limit on how much work the business can take on.

Instrumentation

Throughput, agreement metrics, and reviewer performance, surfaced quickly enough that delivery and quality decisions are made on data.

Client integrations

Clients bring their own annotation environments, security requirements, and data-handling constraints. You will build against them and keep visibility into work happening inside someone else's system.

The stack and technical foundation

Choosing the languages, frameworks, and infrastructure the company runs on, and deciding what to build in-house versus adopt from existing tooling.

Security and access control

Expert identity, client confidentiality, and data handling are governed by client contracts and compliance requirements. You will design for that from the start.

Engineering standards

The practices, tooling, and review culture the next engineers inherit. You will also help recruit and evaluate them.

What We're Looking For

Minimum qualifications

• 6+ years as a full-stack or backend engineer, including internal tools or operational software that a team depended on daily.

• You have been the first or only engineer on a system, or otherwise owned architecture decisions without a large team around you.

• You have worked closely with operations teams: watching how work is actually done and designing around it.

• Product judgment. You can decide what to build next without a product manager, and explain the tradeoff.

• Experience building systems that handle sensitive data, with authentication, permissions, and audit logging done properly.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with annotation tooling, data pipelines, workflow engines, or marketplace and labor platforms.

• Experience in human data or AI training data environments.

• Familiarity with supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning from human feedback, and model evaluation, and how data flows into them.

• Comfort building with LLM APIs, including using models inside internal workflows for quality checks or automation.

• Experience preparing a company for enterprise security review or certification such as SOC 2.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $175,000 - $225,000. The final offer depends on experience and level. The role also includes a performance bonus and equity participation.
